The estimated cost of blindness worldwide is 3 trillion dollars. That’s disability claims, medical and surgical costs and lost wages. Per year, that’s 3 million or 1/3 of everyone in Michigan being awarded a million dollars. Over the years, my pickle jar of change has become a Walker’s butter cookie tin. When it gets full, the bank sorts and rolls it and to charity it goes–make change! Just think if every person walking and talking, pulled their nickels, pennies, dimes and quarters from their pants pockets, change cups, car cups, seat crevices, brief cases and purse bottoms to donate to charity. Too often we think our contributions aren’t “big enough” to matter. That isn’t true. Every drop of water helps extinguish the fire. This is a great project to teach kids that every penny matters!
